DESCALING RETUBING

Descaling and retubing are essential maintenance processes used in heat exchangers, boilers, chillers, and other industrial equipment to ensure efficient operation and extend equipment life.

Descaling is the process of removing mineral deposits (such as calcium, magnesium, and lime scale) that build up on the inner surfaces of pipes and tubes due to continuous exposure to hard water or process fluids. These deposits reduce heat transfer efficiency and can cause overheating, corrosion, and system blockages. Descaling is typically done using chemical cleaners or mechanical methods like brushing or high-pressure water jets.

Retubing involves replacing damaged, corroded, or clogged tubes in a heat exchanger or similar equipment. Over time, tubes can degrade due to corrosion, erosion, or scaling, reducing system performance and risking failure. Retubing restores the equipment's original performance by installing new tubes, often made of materials better suited to resist future damage.

Together, descaling and retubing are critical for maintaining the efficiency, safety, and longevity of heat transfer equipment.
